Tag! I'm it?

Ok, I've been tagged twice now. Guess I'd better just fulfil the requirements so you can all stop nagging me!

10 years ago I had just turned 20. I was in my Sophmore year at BYU and really loving life at the Elms! I was still writing my missionary, and trying to be "faithful..."

5 things on my to-do list:
1. Finish this tag thing so I don't have to worry about it anymore...
2. Sew something on my new sewing machine!
3. Think of funraiser events for Ryan's Police Academy (Any ideas you have would be great!)
4. Write Thank-you notes for all the birthday gifts I received - and also some Christmas gifts... I am way behind on the thank yous...
5. Hurry and finish this up before Ed gets back from his lunch break!

Ahh... finally it is over! Now I tag nobody! I don't want to torture the rest of you!

Hair today, gone tomorrow

Yes, I know it is out of order, but I just wanted to post the photos of Ryan's new hair cut! First the buzz job... then the bic job... At first I hated it, but now it is kind of growing on me... (no pun intended)

At least his head is a nice shape... not all lumpy. Yesterday one of the RTO's took his hat off and said, "Price! Your head is freakishly white!" He couldn't really respond, so he just agreed... "Yes ma'am!"

So far, so good! Day 2 has begun!

Black Monday

Where to begin... I guess today really began last night when Ryan shaved his head with a razor instead of the buzzer... Yes, he "bic'd" it. I am not going to lie about this... it looks weird and feels even more strange... As the night continued on, we both hurried around the house trying to get everything he needed together for the big day. (Man there is a TON of stuff he has to take). He has so much stuff that he has 3 lockers! 1 outside locker and 2 inside lockers. We finally got to bed around 11pm... I woke up at 4:30am when Ryan was tossing and turning, anticipating the alarm going off any minute.

The Academy Class has to meet as a group before hand to make sure they look ok, and to march in together. They met at 5am and then the class began at 6:40am. I woke up to an alarm Ryan had set for me to come watch. (They invite friends, family and previous academy graduates to come at watch the torture of these poor boys and girls on their first day). So, I got up, and ran out the door to get there by 7am. As I was driving to the Goldenwest College campus, I looked at the clock and it was 6am!!! I am sure Ryan didn't mean to but he set the alarm for 5:30am rather than 6:30am! Oh well. Back to the house for another 45 minutes of restless sleep, or just rest...

So, I finally arrived at the academy and there they were - all 37 members of the Goldenwest Academy Class 135. They were lined up in 4 lines and they all looked so tense. They had about 12 RTO's (Recruit Training Officers) walking around yelling at them, and asking them why they were unprepared, why they looked so horrible, what they were there for, and on and on. I took the camera and just took as many pictures as I could.

I was hesitant to go just because I didn't want to see Ryan having to do push-ups or pull ups, or be yelled at. They seem so mean! However, he didn't have to do any of that! He was so well prepared that he didn't have to do any push ups! I am sure he was glad too! There were a few that just couldn't get anything right...

The head RTO asked me if I was doing ok, as he walked by a few of us just watching. I said, "yes.... sir!" He laughed and said, you aren't part of the group, you don't have to say 'sir'! It was funny and everyone around me laughed too... I had to say that the RTO's seem to be very nice, just not when they are yelling in your face...

Well, the morning has passed, and now I suspect that he is eating his lunch and feeling a little relaxed as the first day is about 1/4 of the way done... They told them he probably won't be home until 8pm tonight... Makes for a long day!

The 6 month journey has begun! Start counting down, and mark your calendars - July 25th is graduation!!! Already looking forward to it!!!

Air Show - San Diego

A year or two ago Ryan and I went to an Air Show in San Diego. It was really fun, be we went late, and didn't get to see many things. Plus, we got to sit in an hour of traffic leaving the event. We just planned it all wrong. So this past Fall we decided to go again and do it right this time. We went for a full day - or atleast tried, because it rained in the morning. We parked outside the military base and rode our bikes in, and we planned to be there all day! We had a great time and some of our friends came and met us there. What we learned this year, is not to forget your camera or your chairs...

Next year we will be SO prepared! We did have a blast though!
The year before this one we got to see the Blue Angels. This year we were able to see the Thunderbirds. They were amazing! They would fly over us coming in from all directions. Most often we knew where they were coming from, but one time we were watching something to the left then from behind us to the right came this airplane going at top speed, and he flew directly over us! We didn't even know what happened as we couldn't even hear the plan until it had already passed! The entire crowd jumped with fright and surprise and then laughter as we all realize that the pilots were having their fun with us...

We can't wait to go again next year!

Christmas Party 2007

We had such a FUN Christmas Party with some of our friends. We had a TON of food and a few games to keep everyone entertained. The best was the white elephant gift exchange. I can't wait to do it all again next year!

San Diego - USS Midway - Day 2

On the second day of our trip to San Diego, we toured the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier. It was HUGE! We had a fun time exploring the ship. The best part, though, was the flight simulator. Ryan and I sat in this "box" that was set up to be like a fighter jet cock pit. Each of us could fly the plane, and we played with a computer to try and shoot down other planes. We could turn the plane in any direction and the "box" we were in would respond to the way we were flying. It was really fun! The only problem was that when we went upside down, my feet couldn't touch the pedals to go faster or slower, and I could only grip the trigger for shooting... Ryan just laughed as a constant stream of bullets came from my side of the screen.
