Yes, it was a long time ago, but we went to Boston and we had fun!!
I told Ryan Monday at lunch we were going to Boston THAT NIGHT! We flew out on the red eye and got to Boston about 8am on Tuesday. We had ONE day in Boston and it was fabulous!
On the flight. We were so excited!
Fog covered Boston - from the plane
Paul Revere - with the church he hung the lantern in behind it. Ryan had last been in Boston as a child, and I had never been. It was SO beautiful! I think we both had a growth in the sense of our patriotism while we were there. It was amazing to see history right in front of us.
Inside the church. The little boxes are family pews. They are all named and have little doors.
Very cute, and very small.
This is a bust of George Washington. I think. I'll have to ask Ryan.
This cute guy was doing tours in Boston Common Park. He was all dressed up so cute. As soon as he saw us and Ryan's Angels hat he started teasing us. He didn't think we should be wearing Angel's garb since it was Sox town... It was funny. It was really hot too. Poor guy was probably starting to dehydrate in that sweat suit!
We went to Boston Commons and Boston Public Garden. Most of the pictures are from the Public Garden. I liked it better. It was landscaped more beautifully.
Lots of flowers in cool arrangements and displays.
Good old George on his horse!
Oh, and of course Cheers is across the street! We didn't go in, as it was about 10am, but we stood in front and looked at the sign and the doors!
Here - Fenway Park - the sole purpose of the trip. To see the park and see a game. We decided to take a tour, and it was really fun and neat too!
This is Tori Hunter, from the Angels. I called out to him and he waved. I was hoping for a ball, but I guess he didn't want to share...
This is the bar of the hotel we stayed in - for 4 hours... (By the time we got back from the game, we slept for 4 hours before we were up again and back to the airport!) We went to check in and our room wasn't ready yet, so they sent us to the bar for a drink, of course on them. They said our limit was $25 but when you order two sodas, you barely make it above $5! They brought us some food and that was really nice too.
Before the game we went to Boston Beer Works for dinner. What is really cool about Fenway Park and it's location is there are a ton of restaurants all around it. They close down all the roads so everyone just walks everywhere. Even if you aren't inside the park for the game, you can here it and feel like you are part of it. Really cool!
So, just as a side note, when we were in St. Lucia, we met a couple that we became friends with. We exchanged emails thinking we might see them again someday. They are from Boston. When we met them, I had already planned this trip. I wanted to ask them questions about what to do and where to stay, but I never had the chance since this trip was a surprise for Ryan.
Anyhow, we met up with them for dinner before the game! They were so nice to come and meet us last minute and to drive into busiest part of town on such a crazy night! Thanks Kevin and Erica! We had fun telling stories and catching up. Nice to know we have friends in such a cool place! The only bummer part was we forgot to take pictures... Next time.
Here we are at the big game! We cheered really loud, but it didn't matter. The Sox fans cheered louder and so that meant the Sox had to win... We decided that next time we should go and be Sox fans at a game where we don't care who they are playing. It would have been more fun to be part of the crowd on this one. The fans are amazing and so dedicated to their team. Sox games really ARE their lives! Cool to see.
All in all we had a SUPER fun time. It was too bad we didn't have more time to explore and do more really fun things. BUT, Ryan and I both had a blast and would love to go again! Fun to be jet-setters for a day though!!
